Covid-19 Vaccination Update – 05/01/2021

The Covid-19 Vaccination Programme in the Cotswold area is being organised by the South Cotswold Primary Care Network (PCN). The Network is made up of 5 GP Practices in and around Cirencester. As a Network we started giving the Covid vaccinations the week before Christmas. Dr Angus McMyn (one of the Phoenix Tetbury Partners) is in charge of setting the service up for the PCN. The rate limiting factor is receiving the vaccines. All vaccines that have been received have been administered. We are anticipating another vaccine delivery in the next week, but when and how much of the vaccine we will receive keeps changing so it has been hard to plan.

The South Cotswold surgeries are providing staff to vaccinate patients and to book patients in and record the vaccinations. This has an impact on staff numbers within the surgeries. We have also lost Dr McMyn from his usual duties for large periods which is a challenge.

It would be good to give the Oxford vaccine from the surgeries but due to the licensing it has to be done centrally from Cirencester Hospital for the time being.

Please be patient as the surgery is under considerable pressure. All vaccines that we have received have been administered and we will continue to call patients as quickly as we can.
